While they are better known for their military applications the kukri are used on a daily basis by Napalese people for chopping wood, farming, and digging.  They are also useful when venturing into the jungle because they can double as a machete.

Traditionally the knife is curved at an angle of 20° or more, has a sharp blade, and a reinforced spine.  Most traditional kukri knives are housed in a wooden sheath which may or may not be finished with goatskin.  Many also come with two smaller tools, the karda and the chakmak, one of which is usually sharpened and used for various tasks with the other remaining unsharpened and typically reserved for sharpening the knife itself.

Modern renditions of the kukri knife however come in all shapes and sizes which sheathes being made of nylon and other materials.
